We have some 30+ year old evergreen trees that need to be replaced. We will be cutting down and digging out stumps. Will there be any issues with replacing them with Nannyberry shrubs? If yes, what would you recommend for replacements?
Thank you

Hi Beth,
There shouldn’t be any issues planting nannyberry in that area. You may need to locate the shrubs a few feet away from where the old stumps were. That’s true regardless of what shrub or tree you plant.
Good luck.
I have another question. We will still be leaving a few of the healthy everygreens up. Do we need to plant a certain distance away from the remaining evergreens? Also is this from the trunk or the dripline?
Thank you so much for your help!

It depends which nannyberry you pick. Look at the plant label or online information for the variety you buy, or talk to people at the plant nursery if you're buying them there. Unless you want the plants to form a hedge, give them plenty of room.
Thanks.
