Bulb planting #890083

Asked November 20, 2024, 11:47 AM EST

I purchased some pollinator flower bulbs and I'm wondering if it is too late to plant them now? I have a good supply of compost and could plant them. If it is likely to be more successful to wait until spring, I can do that too. Thanks for your assistance. Tina K.

Hi Tina,

It is best to plant spring blooming bulbs in the fall.  It is usually fine to plant bulbs before the ground is frozen.  Make sure the bulbs are for your Plant Hardiness Zone if you plant now.  This is a link to that map.  https://planthardiness.ars.usda.gov/  NH ranges from Zone 6a to 4a, south to north.
